I haven’t written a blog post in a few weeks because I’ve been obsessing about two things that did not seem to have a lot to do with each other until I realized that they everything to do with each other which only became clear to me in an epiphany that unfortunately occurred in the middle of the night and kept me from falling back asleep.
We’re reading the same books! 😉 As usual your blog is full of great nuggets, but what I was struck by was the concept of interstitial time, “or the time and space between people in which genuine human interaction can take place.” It reminds of some things I read about brain states and how the quality and sensation of time changes with them. Is there another reference for it, or was that something your co-author / edition just threw out en passant? It’s stickier for me, in a good way, than two-way harmony.
I actually focused on the term because Jenn and Mara mentioned their ideas on it to me when were in Columbia. They refer to the physical interstitial; I think Franco has a more mental process in mind (though they are of course related). A few folks in the peacebuilding world are looking a neuroscience research but rarely to get at how we, ourselves, act. There is a consortium of younger people/organizations who are taking that and more on from a perspective the overlaps a lot with the Zebras. In the short run, check out www.howtobuildup.org.
Thanks for taking the time to read and commnent. Before 7 AM your time.
