Welcome to the first of eight posts that, together, provide an overview of my new book, Peacebuilding Starts at Home which will be published in early November.
Really like the term "ordinary paradise". In my experience, there is a lot of paradise, ordinary and otherwise, around us. It's a little like how David Foster Wallace described it in a joke he liked to tell:
Two young fish encounter an old fish.
“How’s the water?” the old fish asks.
“What the hell is water?” one young fish asks.
It reminds me of how those things that do exist that bind, connect, and give resilience to brittle places are overlooked by many - and go under appreciated and uncultivated. Happy to parallel your work through our efforts at Durable Good (https://durableproductions.substack.com/), calling attention to these connectors and the need to notice them - and do the work. Will restack your post.
Enjoyed looking at your substack just now, including the fact that you did a post on Weave's Social Trust index which is a terrific tool that we plan to use as we take our project(s) forward.

Ray, Thanks. I love the fish story, too.
